What this site keeps, and why.
Short version: two forms collect an email address and a few facts about your trip. Nothing is sold or shared, and there are no advertising trackers on the site.
What is collected
Only if you fill in a form. The checklist form asks for your email, and optionally your first name, travel month, length of trip and the cities you plan to visit. The Plan Beijing form asks for your email, and optionally your first name, where you're travelling from, travel month, number of days, who's coming, a budget range, what would help most, and a free-text answer. If you built a plan on that page first, the choices you made are saved with the form.
With each submission the server also records the time, the page you sent it from, the page that referred you, your browser's user-agent string, and the country derived from your connection. The full IP address is used only for a short-lived rate limit and is not stored with your record.
Kept in your browser only: the items you tick on the checklist and the plan you build stay on your own device. They never reach the server.
Why
- To send you one email if a paid planning service opens. That is the only mailing this site promises.
- To decide what to build next, from the answers in aggregate: which months people travel, how long they stay, and what they find hardest.
There are no individual replies from these forms, no newsletter, and no automated marketing.
Where it is stored
Submissions are stored in a private Cloudflare datastore, encrypted in transit, and read only by me. They are not shared with, sold to, or rented to anyone. The site currently runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
Affiliate links to Trip.com are marked. When you click one, you leave this site and Trip.com's own privacy policy applies to whatever happens there.
How long
Until that one email has gone out, or until you ask for removal, whichever comes first. Records older than two years are deleted regardless.
Your choices
- Every email this site sends will carry an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your record.
- To have your details removed before any email is sent, email [email protected] and I'll delete them.
- You can clear the ticks and plans stored in your browser at any time from the checklist page, or by clearing site data in your browser.
